Personal Training for Pregnant Women
Pregnancy is the beginning of a major change in every woman’s life. Recent scientific evidence suggests that a healthy woman whose pregnancy is progressing without problems can continue to follow an exercise program or start a new one. However, some women believe that physical activity during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, premature birth, poor fetal development, or musculoskeletal injury.
These concerns have not been confirmed in normal pregnancies. In fact, participation in exercises such as jogging, running, gymnastics, and light weights has been found to improve the mother’s overall physical condition, improving cardiorespiratory function, reducing the likelihood of gestational diabetes, and limiting her weight gain without limiting fetal growth, while at the same time, accelerating postpartum recovery.

Exercising during pregnancy has significant benefits, including:
- It strengthens the back muscles and helps to better support the waist and abdomen, which naturally receive greater pressure due to extra weight.
- Strengthening the legs helps support the torso and better distribute weight, and contributes to stable walking.
- Pelvic muscle training helps with childbirth, as the pregnant woman can push out the fetus better and less painfully.
- At the same time, by increasing the mother’s levels of endorphins (hormones secreted by the body and creating well-being), exercise contributes to the good mental health of the expectant mother, as well as to the subsequent normal development of the fetus.
